Create Great Inclusion: Inclusion Institute
The Grand Rapids Chamber believes creating great inclusion requires honest and open dialogue.
The Chamber Inclusion Institute is a 21st century workshop learning experience based on the Institute for Healing Racism. It is designed to give participants tools to enhance their capacity to engage in conversation about racial equity, race, racism, and through an intersectional lens.
Chamber programs prioritize creating spaces where diverse perspectives can come together to learn, grow, and push our community forward toward a more inclusive community for all.
Participants will experience an adult learner developmental approach first starting by exploring their own identity, thoughts, feelings. Explore the various dimensions of race, racial equity and inclusion, and end by developing and implementing a 21-day action plan. Workshop participants commit to learning how to have brave conversations about racial equity, inclusion, and racism.
Most importantly, each participant is challenged to listen and learn in a in a non-judgmental, way that promotes greater awareness and understanding that motivates movement towards greater inclusion.

“As an aspiring diversity and inclusion practitioner, there aren’t ample outlets within my workplace to have candid conversations about racism. The Institute provided me a safe space to ask sticky questions and engage in dialogue with a diverse set of community members. I walked away feeling more confident in language around diversity and inclusion that I can use in my day-to-day work. I also walked with resources that I can share with my colleagues to help them in their learning journey as well. I highly recommend the Institute!”
