Breakfast with Legislators

Breakfast with Legislators events provide Chamber members and their employees the opportunity to establish relationships with key decision makers and voice opinions on issues moving forward in Lansing. Networking and facilitated question-and-answer sessions offer firsthand information on upcoming legislation and House and Senate committee activities, prompting great dialogue between legislators and Chamber members.

We are excited to hold our last Breakfast with Legislators of the year at the Michigan State University Grand Rapids Research Center! We will be joined by Congressman Peter Meijer, who will give a federal policy update. We will also have the opportunity to hear from a panel of local legislators on state and local level policies. After the event, participants will have the opportunity to tour the new Doug Meijer Medical Innovation Building. Space is limited for this event, so make sure you reserve your spot today!

Congressman Peter Meijer Breakfast with Legislators 81
United States House of Representatives District 3 (R)

Congressman Peter Meijer has represented Michigan’s Third Congressional District since 2020. Upon graduating from East Grand Rapids High School, Meijer enlisted in the Army Reserves. He was deployed to Iraq as a non-commissioned officer, postponing his studies to serve with an intelligence unit at joint US-Iraqi bases in the Baghdad area. After returning from Iraq in 2011, Meijer completed his bachelor’s degree at Columbia University. Meijer then went on to work for Team Rubicon, a veteran-based disaster response organization and a conflict analysis NGO in Afghanistan. He last served as Acting Deputy Director for Afghanistan, delivering emergency assistance to aid workers after kidnappings and targeted killings. Representative Meijer currently serves on the Committee on Homeland Security as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Oversight, Management, and Accountability. He also serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. Representative Meijer is also a proud member of the Problem Solvers Caucus, a bipartisan group working to find common ground on many of our country’s key issues.
