Stephen L. Anderson | Vice President of Hospital Contracting & Network Administration, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan
Stephen (Steve) L. Anderson is vice president of Hospital Contracting and Network Administration, part of the Health Care Value division within Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. BCBSM is a single-state Blue plan serving 4.5 million people in Michigan and 1.6 million more in other states. He is responsible for managing relationships and contract activities for the Blues’ network of Michigan health care providers, which includes 152 hospitals and nearly 33,000 physicians. Anderson has a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Arizona State University. He serves on the board of the Judson Center, a non-profit human service agency that provides compassionate, comprehensive services to children and families throughout southeast Michigan and has also served on the board of directors for the Spina Bifida Association of Arizona and Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center.
Tammarie Arsulowicz | Project Manager, Anesthesia Practice Consultants
Tammarie Arsulowicz is a Project Manager at Anesthesia Practice Consultants (APC) in Grand Rapids, MI where she implements new initiatives and projects across the practice as well as other corporate partnerships. Tammarie is currently leading an initiative on behalf of APC in partnership with the EPiC Consortium and West Michigan Works to create an Anesthesia Technology Program bringing new possibilities for Michigan residents and healthcare employers as the first paid apprenticeship program in the U.S.
William Beecroft MD, DLFAPA | Medical Director of Behavioral Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan
Dr. Beecroft is responsible for the medical administration of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan Behavioral Health strategy and planning team. He has been a strong advocate for the Collaborative Care Model expansion. Dr. Beecroft received his M.D. from Michigan State University. He is board certified in general psychiatry with added qualifications in geriatrics and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. Dr Beecroft was named a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association in 2018.
David Brown | Director of West Michigan Provider Engagement and Transformation, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan
David Brown is Director of West Michigan Provider Engagement and Transformation for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. Possessing extensive familiarity with the West Michigan market, Brown is based at the company’s Grand Rapids office and is responsible for all BCBSM/BCN provider relations in West Michigan. Brown serves on numerous boards that focus on Healthcare and Human Resources reducing the cost of healthcare and encourages communication between healthcare communities and businesses.Brown is a graduate from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degrees in public administration and political science. He continually strives to educate and build collaborative relationships within the professional healthcare community, hospitals and providers in West Michigan and surrounding regions.
Jeran Culina | Manager, Business Leaders United
Jeran Culina began with National Skills Coalition in 2021 as the Manager of Business Leaders United (BLU). BLU is a national business network comprised of leaders from small and medium-sized enterprises representing a range of industry sectors who are concerned about our nation’s skills mismatch and promote public investments in skills training and education that prepare America’s workers for jobs in the 21st Century economy. Jeran manages the implementation of engaging and expanding the BLU network as well as all their state work. Before joining National Skills Coalition, Jeran worked as a Senior Policy Associate at Advance CTE, which supports state CTE leaders to advance high-quality and equitable CTE policies, programs and pathways. She is also from the West Michigan area and previously served as the Education and Research Project Manager at Talent First. Jeran has a Master of Educational Leadership from Michigan State University and a B.A. in Interdisciplinary of Social Sciences with an emphasis on early childhood education from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Jack Dillon | Chief Executive Officer, Anesthesia Practice Consultants
Jack Dillon is the Chief Executive Officer of Anesthesia Practice Consultants (APC) in Grand Rapids, Michigan. APC is an independent anesthesia practice that performs over 150,000 cases in West Michigan. Jack received his Bachelor’s Degree from Western Michigan University and has a Master’s Degree from Loyola University Chicago and Northwestern University.
Dr. Paul Isely | Associate Dean and Professor of Economics, Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University
Dr. Paul Isely is the Associate Dean and Professor of Economics for the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University, which he joined in 1995 after earning his Ph.D. in Economics from Purdue University. He also holds an M.S. in Economics from Purdue University and a dual B.S. in Physics and Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Isely’s research interests have led to many local articles and reports. These articles have explored West Michigan’s economy including forecasts of growth, the state of entrepreneurship, health care costs, environmental clean-up values, economic impacts of various activities, and the costs and benefits of wind power. He has been interviewed extensively by TV, radio, and newspapers on the West Michigan economy and its relationship to the national and state economies.
Kristina Ko | Vice President of Government Relations & Public Policy and Chief Government Affairs Officer, Corewell Health
Kristina Ko recently joined Corewell Health as the vice president of government relations and public policy and chief government affairs officer where she’ll work to advance the health system’s mission to improve health, instill humanity and inspire hope in partnership with local, state and federal government policymakers. She will also be responsible for developing and promoting a public policy strategy that advances Corewell Health’s vision of making health simple, affordable and exceptional for the communities it serves.
Amy Lee | Executive Dean of Collaborative Programs, Michigan Community College Association; Director, EPiC Consortium
Dr. Amy Lee is the Executive Dean at the MCCA overseeing the Center for Collaborative Programs and the Director of the EPiC Consortium. Through the Center for Collaborative Programs Dr. Lee supports Michigan Community Colleges, students and workforce leaders. Through the development of collaborative programs certificate and degree opportunities can be shared across the State of Michigan.
Shamus O’Keefe | Vice President, Lighthouse, an Alera Group Company
Shamus O’Keefe joined the Lighthouse team in 2019 as an employee benefits broker. Prior to joining Lighthouse, he was an account executive (25 years) selling life insurance, disability insurance, voluntary benefits & leave management systems with the top 5 carriers in this space. My role was to work with brokers around the Midwest to develop the most effective employee benefit & leave programs to help attract as well as retain top talent for employers. I am married to Stacey O’Keefe (who is also my business partner at Lighthouse). Stacey is one of the premier consultants working in Michigan with an expertise in the self-funded medical space. The synergies that we offer working as a team allow us to bring unique ideas to the clients as well as the ability to solve the unexpected problems that show themselves on a regular basis. We have (3) grown children and (1) grandson. We have partnered with the Lighthouse team to support the amazing work the Special Olympics is doing in our communities. My hobbies include snowboarding, golf, and the Detroit Lions!
Julie Parks | Dean of Workforce Training and Interim Dean for Business & Industry, Grand Rapids Community College
Julie Parks is the Dean of Workforce Training and the Interim Dean for Business & Industry at Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC). She has over 20 years’ experience in workforce development. Under her leadership the GRCC, workforce team successfully trained over 12,391 individuals in 2021-22 and provided training for 384 companies in various sectors, with a student completion rate of 84% and a placement rate of 93%. Her team, with employers, Trinity Health and Spectrum Health and workforce board partners, West Michigan Works, created the first in the nation apprenticeships for Medical Assistant and EEG Technicians, and the first in west Michigan apprenticeships for Healthcare Insurance Agents with Blue Cross, Blue Shield; Sterile Processing Technician; and Surgical technicians. Her goal is that all citizens in west Michigan have opportunities to find careers that will improve their economic security and grow their social networks. She and her team won the 2022 National Workforce Development Boards’ Partnership of the Year with West Michigan Works. She currently manages over $16.9 million dollars in grants from the US Department of Labor, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Health Resources and Services Administration, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the band Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation, and the Ludwig Institute. The grant funding allows for over 2450 individuals to receive reduced or free tuition. She is a proud graduate Michigan State University (B.A.) and Central Michigan University (M.A.) and lives in Grand Rapids with her husband Chuck.
Nicole Reed | Manager of HR Services, Insperity
Nicole Reed is a HR Professional with a varied professional background including experience in the media, marketing and hospitality industries. She currently sits as a Manager of HR Services at Insperity, based out of Chicago. Her team is specifically designed to support small businesses with the creation of a HR infrastructure and development of successful human capital management strategies. Nicole is a graduate of Penn State University and recently completed Insperity’s Leadership Academy program, further building her skillset as a servant leader.
Mary Rosser | Chief Human Resources Officer, Trinity Health Grand Rapids Hospital
Mary Rosser serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer for Trinity Health Grand Rapids Hospital and Trinity Health Medical Group West Michigan, and she has been with Trinity for 20 years. Mary holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baker College and Masters of Leadership from Western Michigan University. Mary sits on the Michigan Hospital Association Human Resources Committee, Grand Rapids Chamber HR Roundtable, and Talent First Workforce Development Committee. In her role, Mary provides strategic direction, vision and guidance in the integration of Human Resources strategies, operations and services, with a special focus on culture, colleague engagement and retention. She partners with HR Centers of Expertise; Talent Acquisition, Organizational Effectiveness, Colleague Relations, Safety & Total Rewards to ensure a meaningful employment experience for those who serve in Trinity Health.
Sarah Szurpicki | Director of the Office of Sixty by 30, Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity
Sarah Szurpicki is the Director of the Office of Sixty by 30 at the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, where she is responsible for coordinating efforts across the state to meet Governor Whitmer’s goal of ensuring that 60 percent of Michigan’s working age adults hold a degree or certificate by 2030. She also serves as a Senior Advisor on Talent to the department director, the Executive Director of the Michigan Workforce Development Board, and the Chair of the state’s MiSTEM Advisory Council. Sarah’s background is in nonprofit management and public policy, particularly around education and youth, urban policy, and talent. She most recently served as the Vice President of the nonpartisan think tank Michigan Future Inc. She attended Harvard University and lives in Detroit with her family.
