Chosen Song: “You Only Get What You Give” by New Radicals

Reason: It’s been a personal favorite of mine for many years but is best enjoyed on the first day I can roll the windows down in Verde (my Ford Fiesta), pound the beat out on my steering wheel, and sing at the top of my lungs. As an eternally grumpy person, it’s a guaranteed pick-me-up every time.

Chosen Song: “Hold Up” by Beyonce

Reason: Who doesn’t love riding around when it’s 80 degrees and sunny with the windows down while Beyonce is blaring?

Chosen Song: “This Must Be the Place” by Talking Heads

Reason: Hearing those quirky instrumentals and hopeful lyrics makes me feel really optimistic and fuzzy inside. There’s no better time to feel those things than when you’re outside soaking up sun! Plus, “Ugly Delicious,” a food series on Netflix, used this song in one of their episodes and it really spoke to me. Watch it if you haven’t yet! Then listen to this song while food tripping.

Chosen Song: “Hotel California” by The Eagles.

Reason: It’s a classic! I also have a great memory of taking a road trip back from the Traverse City Film Festival with my friends and playing air guitar during the song’s guitar solo.

Chosen Song: “Skywalker” by Miguel Ft. Travis Scott

Reason: There’s a lot about this song that is great for summer! Some of the lyrics that speak to me are: “Good things come to those who wait, but don’t wait to jump in too long” and “celebrate every day like a birthday.” To me, summer is about making friends and lasting memories. If you want to travel or try something new, summer is the best time to do it!
