Political Action Committee Interviewing Candidates

Create Great Policy Update: Road Funding and Automobile Insurance

Members of The Friends of West Michigan Business, the Grand Rapids Chamber’s Political Action Committee (PAC), are excited to be interviewing two candidates for Grand Rapids City Commission Ward 2 today.

The Chamber PAC is a separate, segregated fund that is only supported by voluntary, personal contributions of Chamber members and is not supported by membership dues or sponsorships.

The Chamber knows this work can be very high-profile and we take it seriously. Supporting highly-qualified candidates who align with our priorities and values is an important part of effectively representing the West Michigan business community. We rely on, and are extremely thankful for, the hundreds of members who shape our priorities and dozens of PAC contributors who participate in the process to guide this effort.

The interviews are the second part of the endorsement process, following submission of questionnaires by candidates interested in the endorsement. The final part of the process is for the PAC Board to meet, consider the reports of the interview team and decide on final endorsements.

Our process continues to be refined based on feedback and now includes more questions based on alignment with Chamber values as well as a two-thirds majority requirement threshold for issuing endorsements by the PAC Board.
