Chamber Applauds Kent County Commission for Supporting Restaurants
Kent County to waive food licensing fees in 2021
Grand Rapids, Michigan – The Grand Rapids Chamber is grateful for the action by the Kent County Board of Commissioners this morning to waive 2021 licensing fees for food service establishments including restaurants, mobile food units, and more.
“The Grand Rapids Chamber is thankful to the Kent County Commission and staff for their leadership and actions to save roughly 2,300 businesses more than $1,000,000 in licensing fees. This action by the County is a strong show of support for the restaurants who have struggled to stay in business while returning to safe operations for their employees and guests,” said Rick Baker, President & CEO for the Chamber. “As we near the finish line of this challenging period, we are thrilled that Kent County continues to take meaningful steps to support the recovery effort.”
“Kent County has been and remains committed to protecting the health, safety, and economic vibrancy of our communities. Caring for the lives and livelihoods of business owners, their employees, and all of our residents is a top priority,” said Mandy Bolter, Chair of the Kent County Board of Commissioners. “This latest step is the right thing to do for a devastating industry that employs citizens and contributes to every part of the County. As we press forward into recovery, we want West Michigan to continue to be the best place to start or restart a business.”
