West Michigan ThunderHawks



The West Michigan ThunderHawks decided last November to move the franchise from Muskegon to Grand Rapids. They kicked off their 2010 season on February 26 with a ribbon cutting event to welcome the team to its new home and ended the night with a 52-36 victory over the Maryland Maniacs!  

It was the first-ever indoor arena-style football game played at the DeltaPlex Arena and the first season-opening victory for the franchise since their inaugural game in 2007.

Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids



Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids opened its first LEED Certified retail store in Standale (across from Uccello’s) on Saturday, December 12. This marked the first Goodwill Store in Michigan and the second retail store in Michigan to be LEED Certified.

Focus groups led to ideas of appealing to college and young adult shoppers. Proceeds from Goodwill Stores help fund employment and placement programs for individuals with barriers to employment.
