More than 700 members of the West Michigan business community gathered on April 11 to hear from Governor Rick Snyder at a standing-room-only luncheon hosted by the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce.  The event marked the Governor’s 101st day in office.

“This was a great opportunity for our members to learn more about the Governor’s proposals to help revive our state’s economy,” said Rick Baker, President and CEO of the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce. “West Michigan will play an important role in this effort.  The Chamber believes the best way to build a better Michigan is to get people back to work, and we look forward to partnering with the Governor to do that.”

Throughout his remarks, Governor Snyder underscored that his approach to reinventing Michigan answers the question, “What do we need to do to make Michigan great again?” His answer: More and better jobs.

“It’s time for all of us to step up,” he said. “This is the time to solve the problems we have failed to solve for decades.”  He also encouraged the audience to help the state by being “Positive, forward-thinking, and inclusive…we’re all in this together and we will decide our fate.”
