ATHENA Scholarships

One critical component of the ATHENA Award Celebration is the awarding of scholarships to women over the age of 30 who are pursuing higher education.

The first ATHENA program in the country to establish a scholarship program, the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce has provided more than $35,000 in scholarship.

ATHENA Scholarships are unique in that recipients can use the money for whatever helps them achieve their degree, from tuition fees to childcare or transportation expenses. Women in the Greater Grand Rapids area, regardless of field of study or preferred college/university, are invited to apply.

2012 Applications will be available by March 2012. Please check back soon for more information.

In 2011, the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce distributed applications to Aquinas College, Calvin College, Cornerstone University, Davenport University, Douglas J Aveda Institute, Grace Bible College, Grand Valley State University, Grand Rapids Community College, ITT Tech, Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University, Kuyper College, Everest Institute, Thomas M. Cooley Law School, University of Phoenix, Northwood University, MSU College of Human Medicine, Central Michigan University, Western Michigan University, Sanford-Brown College. Women over 30 from any field of study at an area college/university are invited to apply.
