The ATHENA Leadership Forum fosters and supports the development of strong female leaders in our community. Rooted in the eight tenets of the ATHENA Leadership Model, the bi-monthly ATHENA Leadership Forum provides professional development opportunities for women of all levels.

March Leadership Forum Speakers:

Monique_Salinas Dr. Monique Salinas — A highly regarded educator and choral conductor in West Michigan, Dr. Salinas is the founder of Mind Meets Music. Under her guidance, Mind Meets Music won the Connecting with Community Award in 2016 from WoodTV 8. She also serves as president on the board of Ebony Road Players, was an ATHENA Award finalist in 2013 and 2015, and was awarded the Community Champion Award from Molina Healthcare in 2016.
LoriBlunafest Lori Burgess — Having been a coach, site liaison, and board member, Lori Burgess is the Council Director for Kent County Girls on the Run (GOTR). She is part of the curriculum development team with the staff from GOTR International. In addition, she spends her morning as a guidance counselor at Kraft Meadows Middle School and has extensive experience in mental health counseling, both locally and internationally.

About ATHENA Leadership Forums

Each ATHENA Leadership Forum features a brief presentation followed by a facilitated discussion around one of the eight ATHENA tenets—Authentic Self, Celebration & Joy, Collaboration, Courageous Acts, Fierce Advocacy, Giving Back, Learning, and Relationships.

Join us to learn valuable leadership lessons, interact with leaders in the community, and network with a diverse group of women through dynamic roundtable discussions.
