ATHENA Award Committee

The ATHENA Award Program was created in 1982 by the Chamber of Commerce in Lansing, Michigan to focus on outstanding professional and business women, and to encourage the opening of leadership opportunities for women in the workplace.

Inclusion & Community Leadership

Center for Community Leadership Committees 

Each year, over 100 alumni engage in the Center for Community Leadership by serving on one of CCL's 20  committees. These committees sustain CCL by providing expert perspective and the energy needed to continually enhance our programs.

Cultural Diversity Council

Provide strategic direction and support for the Chamber diversity and inclusion initiatives. Council members will be informed on the issues of diversity and inclusion and hold an executive leadership position in their organization. Seats are limited and GRACC Board appointed.

Diversity Practitioners Forum Committee

Provide direction and plan forums for diversity practitioners interested in engaging in frank discussions on professional and industry issues.

Multiracial Association of Professionals Council

Provide strategic direction and support for the Multiracial Association of Professionals. Preferred committee members will have experience in the area of diversity, human resources, or talent recruitment. Seats are limited and GRACC Board Appointed.

Helps develop and deliver Multiracial Association of Professionals (MAP) service to welcome and connect professionals of color and their families new to the area.

Institute for Healing Racism Program Committee

Generate ideas for and help to develop the Chamber Institute for Healing Racism (IHR) programming. Volunteer must be alumni of the Chamber IHR program and have extensive knowledge about racism and program or curriculum development.

Government Affairs

Education & Workforce Development Committee

Works to ensure the development of a better educated and productive workforce.

Environmental Affairs Committee

Advises the Chamber membership on significant environmental issues and work to influence lawmakers to prepare and support cost-efficient, yet effective, environmental regulations.

Health Care & Human Resources Committee

Advocates to reduce the cost of health care and encourages communication between the business and health care communities.

Political Action Committee – Friends of West Michigan Business

An independent, non-partisan Political Action Committee (PAC) that selects endorses and financially contributes to the campaigns of pro-business candidates running for state or local office.

Regional Issues Council

A forum of community leaders interested in engaging in discussions on projects and issues that may affect the region’s business and community interests.

Tax & Regulatory Affairs Committee

Reviews issues as they relate to taxes and regulations that increase the cost of doing business and provides analysis and develops positions. Committee members often hold accounting, financial, or tax responsibilities within their organizations.

Transportation Committee

Analyzes issues and advocates for infrastructure policies and projects that make efficient use of each dollar spent on transporation.
